2022 FLA Annual Meeting Ballot Results

Thank you so much to our Fayson Lakes Association members who were able to either attend the 2022 Annual Meeting last weekend or otherwise participate in this process through proxy voting! The intent of this message is to provide our membership with written notice of the ballot results for this meeting. Please note that we will also be sending a mailer with a similar notification to those properties not currently subscribing to our email blasts.

As a reminder, any updates to our Association By-Laws require the affirmation of two-thirds of the voting membership, and updates to our General Rules require the affirmation of a simple majority. Each of the proposals on the ballot met the necessary threshold for adoption:

  • Proposal 1: Election of three (3) of the following for three (3) year terms:

    • a) Barbara Kogen - 97% PASS

    • b) Chris Gander - 97% PASS

    • c) Debra Slawson Zyskowski - 98% PASS

  • Proposal 2: Election of Skyler Conte for two (2) year term - 99% PASS

  • Proposal 3: Election of Stephen Kessel for one (1) year term - 98% PASS

  • Proposal 4: Election of Stephen Kessel as Board President - 98% PASS

  • Proposal 5: Adjust dues from $585.00 to $750.00 for standard members and $292.50 to $440.00 for discount-eligible members younger than 80 years (no change for those 80 or above), as of fiscal year 2023 - 81% PASS

  • Proposal 6: For new members who join the Association on or after January 1, 2023, adjust discount eligibility from 65 to 70 years old and years of membership in good standing from 5 to 15 years - 91% PASS

  • Proposal 7: For members less than 55 years of age as of January 1, 2023, adjust discount eligibility from 65 to 70 - 86% PASS

  • Proposal 8: Beginning with fiscal year 2024, apply incremental annual dues adjustments aligned to the 12-month inflation rate 1 of 3% or less, with any adjustment above that rate, or any other non-inflationary adjustment, requiring the majority affirmation of the Association’s voting membership - 81% PASS

  • Proposal 9: Allow a late payment fee, not to exceed 5% of the annual dues amount, for dues not paid within a 60-day grace period (before 1st of May) - 89% PASS

  • Proposal 10: Adoption of general rules and by-law updates (previously included in FAQ enclosure and membership presentation) recommended by the Board of Trustees with the stated objectives of clarification and formal adoption of existing rules, governance and operating efficiency improvements, and legal compliance improvements - 92% PASS

We will soon publish the updated by-laws and general rules to our Fayson Lakes website, and our Business Manager will make a printed copy available to any member who does not have internet access upon request to our office.

With regard to other next steps, the incumbent and incoming Trustees will begin performing an “end-of-year” review of our financials during the months of December and January. At that time, they will allocate our budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins March 2023, including a finalization of staff wages and capital project planning. This budget will be presented to our membership on 3/18/23 at the regularly scheduled FLA March Meeting.

The new members of our Board of Trustees will officially begin their respective terms during the first week of October, at which time they will also have their individual areas of responsibility designated. As always, all of these details and contact information will be posted on our website HERE.

Thank you again, and we wish all of our Fayson Lakes residents a wonderful autumn season!
