We hope that you had the opportunity to attend our Beach Band Jam this past weekend - one of many great events that we’ve been able to hold in Fayson Lakes this summer. As we enter August, and with the final stretch of our summer season in sight, we begin to shift our focus to the business of the fall, and planning for the upcoming year.
We’ve been sharing with our members for several years now - in our membership meetings, mailed materials, the Fayson Fax, and email blasts - the need for us to make some updates to ensure the short-term and long-term financial viability of our Association. The financial impacts of the pandemic, as well as recent wage and demographic trends, have only heightened the importance of doing so.
As we’ve reached the point where the timely implementation of changes is imperative and can no longer be deferred, we are sharing with you information regarding the membership proposals that we are planning to put forth for consideration as part of the September 2022 (“Annual”) Meeting.
In addition to several proposals focused on the dues and discount structure, other by-laws updates are focused on improving governance, efficiency, and legal compliance for our Association. There is a lot of material provided in the above, so please take the time to thoroughly review it - even if that means over the course of multiple sittings, or several days. Our goal is transparency to our members, and the volume of content provided is to fulfill that objective. It is important for us to achieve broad community support, and we firmly believe that this is directly correlated with having a well-informed membership.
In both the FAQ and presentation above, you will also find a link to a brief survey, as there are several areas in particular in which member feedback will be helpful in guiding us with how best to proceed. Please note that this is not your proxy ballot and in no way does your response constitute a binding vote. This survey is simply for the purposes of gathering feedback.
We are also planning various Q&A information sessions for members in the Clubhouse picnic area over the next month. These are intended to be more informal discussions rather than formal presentations, though we will likely also conduct the latter in advance of our Annual Meeting. Bring your own beverage of choice (maybe a coffee for a morning session) and join us with any questions that you might have!
